CUPE 382 April 18 Board Presentations
Career Preparation Instructors Ron King from Oak Bay Secondary School and Stew Wheeler from Victoria High School, with the cooperation of CUPE 382 and administration, have been working with students to teach and mentor them to be the best that they can be in several work experience programs including carpentry, electrical, heating, plumbing and mechanical systems.
Presentations were made by Charla Mason, an Electrician/Electrical Engineer and Paul Rowley, Carpentry Foreman, providing details of the work that they do with students. District trades people teach and mentor the students regarding safety in the workplace, the importance of tools and materials they will be using, putting theory into real work and the positive impact of pursuing a career for both male and female students in the trades.
